Phone Repair FAQ: 25 Questions Answered

By Woman Wireless On The Go ·

This FAQ answers the 25 questions people ask most about at-home phone repair with Woman Wireless On The Go: how to book, how free quotes work, hours and service areas, what happens to your data, which devices and brands are repaired, and how replacement part options differ.

Booking and visits

1. How do I book a repair?

Call or WhatsApp (365) 351-4247, or send a request online. Tell us the device and the problem, get a free quote, and the exact visit time is confirmed by phone or WhatsApp.

2. Is there a store I can walk into?

No. There's no storefront and no walk-ins. A certified woman technician travels to you instead.

3. Where does the repair happen?

Wherever suits you: your home, your workplace, your parked car or your condo lobby. The repair is done on the spot and tested with you before the technician leaves.

4. What are your hours?

Calls and WhatsApp messages are answered 24 hours, 7 days. Online requests book into three windows: Morning (8am to 12pm), Afternoon (12 to 5pm) or Evening (5 to 9pm). For late-night help, call or WhatsApp.

5. Which areas do you serve?

Milton, Oakville, Burlington, Halton Hills (Georgetown and Acton), Mississauga, Brampton and Toronto, with the west end closest. See the full service area.

6. Do I need to be there?

Yes, or someone who can unlock and check the device should be. Each repair is tested with the customer, so you can confirm everything works before the visit wraps up.

7. Who will come to my home?

A certified woman technician. Woman Wireless On The Go is a women-owned, LGBTQ+ friendly business based in Milton.

8. Can you come to my office?

Yes. Workplace visits are common, and several staff devices can be handled in one visit if you list them when you book.

Quotes

9. Is the quote free?

Yes. You get a free quote before any work starts, so you can decide with the full picture.

10. What do you need for an accurate quote?

  • Your device's make and exact model
  • What's wrong and how it happened
  • A clear photo of any damage
  • Whether it has been dropped in or exposed to liquid

11. How do I find my model?

On iPhone, go to Settings › General › About. On Samsung, Pixel and most Android phones, open the About phone section at the bottom of Settings.

12. Can I get a quote over WhatsApp?

Yes. Send your model, a description and a photo to (365) 351-4247 on WhatsApp.

13. How long will my repair take?

It depends on the device and the repair. The technician confirms timing when she gives your quote.

14. Why aren't prices listed online?

The cost depends on your model, the part option you choose and whether there's other damage. A quote for your specific device is more useful than a price list that doesn't match it.

Your data

15. Will I lose my data?

Common repairs such as screens, batteries and charging ports don't involve erasing the phone. Still, back up first, because any device can fail unexpectedly. Here's how to back up an iPhone.

16. Do I have to share my passcode?

Testing usually needs the phone unlocked. Because you're there during the visit, you can unlock it yourself when asked.

17. Should I reset my phone before the repair?

No. A reset isn't needed for most repairs and only adds work for you afterwards. Just make sure a recent backup exists.

What gets fixed

18. Which brands do you repair?

iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Motorola, OnePlus and other brands. See iPhone repair or browse all services.

19. Which phone problems can be repaired?

Cracked screens, worn batteries, charging ports, back glass, cameras and water damage, plus phone unlocking.

20. Do you fix more than phones?

Yes: iPads and other tablets, laptops and computers, and game consoles.

21. My phone got wet. What should I do?

Power it off, don't charge it and skip the rice. Here's why rice doesn't help. Then call or WhatsApp for a quote.

22. Can you unlock my phone?

Under the CRTC Wireless Code, Canadian carriers must unlock phones free on request, and new phones have been sold unlocked since December 2017. More in our Ontario unlocking guide.

Parts and decisions

23. What part options are there?

Many repairs, especially screens, have more than one grade of replacement part. They differ in brightness, colour accuracy and cost. The technician explains the options for your model and you choose.

24. Will my iPhone show a parts message afterwards?

Some newer iPhones display a notice in Settings when a part such as the screen, battery or camera isn't an Apple part. The phone keeps working. Ask what to expect for your model.

25. Should I repair or replace my phone?

If the phone still gets software updates and does what you need, a repair often makes sense. Our repair vs new phone comparison walks through it, and you can read customer reviews too.

If your question isn't here, ask. Calls and WhatsApp are answered around the clock at (365) 351-4247.
